From our farm to your table, we’re committed to bringing you premium-quality, grain-fed beef that’s locally raised and processed for unequalled freshness and flavor.
The idea for Sunflower Beef blossomed when Daniel and Susie Kane bought Susie’s grandpa’s farm southeast of Haysville, Kan. in 1991 and began raising cattle in 1992. Born in Atchison, Kan., Daniel grew up around a cattle and hog farming operation, while Susie, born in Wichita, Kan., has fond memories of her grandpa’s farm.
The Kanes currently raise Angus and Hereford-Angus cattle and farm more than 250 acres that includes corn and soybeans.
A United States Air Force and Kansas Air National Guard veteran, Daniel currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Mulvane Cooperative Union, a full-service grain co-op in Mulvane, Kan.
Our grain-fed Angus and Hereford-Angus beef is high in protein as well as vitamins and minerals such as iron, zinc and B12. The Kanes work with a nutritionist to ensure the grain provides a well-balanced diet for Sunflower Beef cattle. In addition, no growth hormones or steroids are used, antibiotics are used minimally to address a health issue, and vaccines are only administered per veterinarian recommendation.
Sunflower Beef cattle are fed grain twice each day and supplemented with grass and hay. To attain sustainable farming practices, the Kanes work with a local scientist and agronomist to unlock the nutrients available in the soil and become less dependent on commercial fertilizers.
Our premium, grain-fed beef is available at peak times during the year and sells first-come, first-served during each purchasing window.
Available portions include: 1/8 beef, 1/4 beef, 1/2 beef, 3/4 beef and whole beef.
